Is this a medic alert bracelet?

I thought it was a medical alert bracelet because of what I thought was a caduces...but the snake on this is sticking its tongue out  and the top unscrews.  All thoughts are appreciated.  P1400640.JPGP1400641.JPGP1400642.JPGP1400643.JPGP1400644.JPG

Re: Is this a medic alert bracelet?

Thank you.  I thought this was odd because the top unscrews but its not deep enough to say put a pill in it.

Re: Is this a medic alert bracelet?

It sure appears to be. I think a person could put a little note with the meds they are allergic to. Or it might hold a tiny nitro glycerin pill. Good luck thats a nice piece 🙂

Re: Is this a medic alert bracelet?

I’ve had a few of these pieces over the years.  Although it resembles the caduceus (which correctly is associated with logistics and commerce), it actually is the Rod of Asclepius, which is associated with medicine and healing.  To be even more specific, this image represents the Star of Life symbol, which broadly is recognized as denoting emergency medical services.

Re: Is this a medic alert bracelet?

Thanks for the info.  I don't take nitro nor have ever seen a tablet so maybe something like that would fit in.

Adding one more note to my earlier reply:

Although I was aware that this symbol is associated with emergency medical services, I’d never actually researched it before.  I found the Wiki listing below fascinating, including details such as why there are six arms of the star, and that this symbol in an elevator denotes that it is large enough to carry a stretcher!

Re: Is this a medic alert bracelet?

Curious if it's gold plated or stamped solid gold?

That's a great looking bracelet. If I had to wear one, I'd wear that one for sure.
