Computers, Networking & I.T.

I think this is the right place to ask.

Uploaded Windows XP Service pack 3 on old Compaq CPU computer. All is good, no problems until I log on the next day and find no sounds, auto updates shut off, camera wizard doesn't work, and Add Hardware won't open. Over 119 updates from Microsoft later, still nothing.

Searching on the Microsoft website is a nightmare. All that money for a product they throw in the trash. Not a nice way to treat customers, IMHO. Creating a system that shuts off features like that is stupid, IMHO, and rude.

Is this computer a glorified wordprocesser now  or is there a way to fix the problems?

Thank you.

Add Hardware Won't Open

Neither of my three HDTV's are smart so for that reason alone, I was considering buying one of Intels Compute Sticks and all the other reasons just make them that much more intriguing.

I, just a few hours ago realized they even existed so, I may add more questions later, but for now from what I gather they cannot do bluray, is that a fact? and how are they at playing Netflix's HD format?

Any other points of interest on these would also be welcome.
