This should be pinned to the board - Dorothy Thorpe

Dorothy Thorpe did not make "Silver Fade". Silver Fade was coined by an eBayer 20+ years ago. What it is called is Mercury Glass or "Lusterware". Lusterware predates Thorpe by decades and these were all made by different companies in different time periods. If you want to sound like you know what you are talking about, call it what it is.

Silver Fade is not  a product of Thorpe either before or after the company was sold in 1955. Selling something as a product of one company because someone else has a same or similar item is just bad practice.

Do the research, find a useful resource.

Mercury glass has much earlier origins, An ebayer being incorrect 20 years ago is just, just too much to believe. How could it happen? Answer that and you have cracked the secret code; much like the Animal Fries at In an Out Burger.

No one here would disagree with you.  But if they pinned a thread to this board to correct every misidentification and misrepresentation (innocent or deliberate) of just 25% of the listings in even 10% of the categories, Khoros would need a new server just for the pinned threads.

It's up to collectors to follow your advice to do research, find useful resources, educate themselves, as you have, so as to not be misled.

FYI Animal Fries is on the Secret Menu at In n Out. It's possible that no one knows what I'm talking about as it might be just a Calif thing. Yummy though.
