Hi looking for any help with this miniature anchor I just found last week at a antique store
very detailed weighs 1 pound the little rope guides are metal everything else is non metallic
? nickel silver
The Leviathan was a ocean liner built in Germany around 1913 originally the Vaterland
only sailed for 1 year because of the start of WW1 in 1917 it was seized by the U.S. and renamed
used for a troopship for the rest of the war after the ware became the flag ship of the United States
Lines from 1923 to 1933
Looking for thoughts opinions guesses on its use / how best to list it. the Smithsonian museum
has a small collection, I dint see anything like it. I don't think it was a tourist item / door knocker . I had it in my pocket for a couple hours and the heads of the bolts started coming off . more like a one off made for the ship captain or a display on a model ship ?? I did see a small anchor listed as a salesman sample still not as complex as this that sold for pretty good money
thanks for any help

I'm not entirely sure what it is, but it's definitely not a one-off - here's one here:

This is the photo for the above listing (it doesn't appear to be showing on the link):

A broken one!

A salesman's sample would have the name of the manufacturer on it, not the name of a specific ship. (Nearly everything sold on eBay as salesmen's samples are not.)
Beyond that, I can't say except that at one pound, it might be a paperweight / desk decoration.
If it's for a model ship, it would be for a large model, wouldn't it? (Although I did see working models of anchors up to 80 mm, just over 3 in, for sale for model-builders, though noe had the name of a specific ship on it.)
Quite an intriguing piece. i hope someone with some expertise comes along to help.
