Need help in identifying carved stone

Hi all! I recently bought this from a thrift store and need help identifying what it is or if it has a value? The design is carved dragon in stone with yin yang in the middle that were glued or attached together in a pad or foam. It is pretty heavy - a little over 8 lbs. Thank you!

Re: Need help in identifying carved stone

It looks like a garden medallion for decor or as a stepping stone.

Re: Need help in identifying carved stone

For what it's worth...

Your item is Chinese, carved of some form of hard-stone with stylized Kui Dragons, Clouds, Bosses and appliques of confronting Bixie figures. The object itself appears to be based on large archaic bronze mirrors or Bi-Disc of the Han Dynasty (an 8+ inch example is posted below). This piece was most likely housed within a 3-prong display stand given the wear-marks verso at the padding's edge.

This is not the type of item meant to be placed in an outside environment exposed to the elements or stepped-on IMHO.

An example of a large (14+ inch) stone Bi-Disc within a 3-prong display stand...

I'm not sure that stepping on it would be such a great idea, but there's a problem with the display stand theory as well. The indentations on the back aren't in line:

I'd just like to add...

The center roundel within your piece might twist-off similar to the Mid-20th C. example below:

Re: Need help in identifying carved stone

Perhaps, the bottom center prong was slightly off-centered? One will never know.

Thank you all for your response! They’re very helpful. Here is another photo showing it’s dimension. It’s about 17 inches (44 cm).
