Ironstone Porcelain Maker Mark NID ....... Having trouble Iding this maker any ideas ....... Thanks

it is ironstone (earthenware) not porcelain. assuming it is english, this mark is not shown in any of godden's excellent marks guides to british potteries. there are several british potters who use an HB initial mark but all of them are minor and wouldn't add value to the piece.

I am clueless, so I must ask: What does "NID" mean here?

The only "NID" that might fit, I suppose, is "Not In Database." But that has to be used among people working with, or familiar with, a specific database. For "NID" to be meaningful or useful, you have to know which database something is not in.

What does "NID" mean here?
"Not In Dictionary" ?
"Not In Distress" ?
"Need It defined" ?
"No I (better) Didn't" ?

From what the OP said in the first post, I think she means Need ID. At any rate, it makes sense.
