Anyone know what this is? What language? Which side up is correct? What does it say? My best guess is an arm band. It measures approx 11 1/2" long by 3" wide. Thanks!

Also finding 組長 used as the equivalent of "director," "supervisor" etc., which is basically the same sense as "group leader."

The meaning appears to be mean "group leader" or "team leader" (but that's just from Googling the characters - it's not because I can read it):

In addition to the info you already have, I would like to add;
Your item is an arm band, the kanji translation is Naga Gumi.
Naga is for organization or group and Gami is for organization or group.
These arm bands are most common with construction companies.

Did you perhaps mean to write: "Naga is for leader and Gami is for organization or group"? Would it indicate a foreman in the context of a construction site?
