Help reading Chinese or Japanese

I have a coin embedded in lucite.  I don't know if this is Chinese or Japanese and I would like to know what the letter says.  Any help will be appreciateddragon2.jpgdragon.jpg.

Are you sure it is a coin?  It seems unusual to mount a coin in that manner, so that only one side of it will ever be seen.   Not that I have a better idea, especially since there's no indiction of size.   Just thinking out loud, I guess.

The reason someone mounted it that way is so you don't get to see that the other side says "souvenir coin,"  in English:
