Can anyone identify what this is?

Can anyone tell me what this is? What is it suppose to hold ? Also is it older or newer?

letter rack? toast rack? is the sculpted part made of metal or something else? can we see the bottom and know the size please.

There are two just like yours listed now on eBay (different content and seller IDs but using the exact same title of Home Decor Fez Hat Monkeys....etc)  and both sellers identify it as a letter holder or CD holder .  One seller says it's "brand new."

Holds 45s (records) or letters...depending on the size of it.

I'm old enough to recognize it as a 45 holder as well. All my high school friends had one.

It could be that depending on age, but the spacing looks too big for records.  I remember the 45 holders as being tightly spaced to hold one record securely.
