Stadt Rottweil a/N- 50 Pfennig - 1918.

8 March 2024- Greetings to all coin, token, medallion, & paper money collectors where-ever you might be. (Attention: This note IS NOT FOR SALE). Another interesting small note titled KRIEGSNOTGELD. 

Note: a/N = an der Neckar. English 'on the Neckar (River)'.

Type: Kriegsnotgeld = Wartime Emergency Money.

Issued in January 1918.

Size: 95mm X 65mm.

Serial Numbers: 111113 & 113990.  (note: Two of this note included in the small collection Heron acquired in 2nd half of 2023.  Why? Heron does not know and only noticed the bonus note after acquisition).

Two notes and each grades uncirculated (UNC).

72 AD - Town founded by the Romans.

771 - Area awarded Duchy status.

1268 - Awarded Free City status.

1803 - Napoleon conquers this region. Rottweil City no longer has

              Imperial Free City status.

1808 - Rottweil awarded to Wurttemberg.

City of Rottweil located about 100 miles South of Landau in der Pfalz.

The word Rottweil is from very old Alemannic language.  Rott means

color Red and Weil means hamlet or small village.

The dog known as Rottweiler was developed in City of Rottweil.

**A neat small wartime emergency note with a bonus (two notes same issue).  Life is like that.  Riding high in April - shot down in May. Life is great and collecting numismatic items is even better. A great hobby 

for a lifetime. Are we having fun yet? Yep!**
