Did you mean:

Stadt Neustadt an der Aisch-5 Pfennig-1917-Nr 585.

18 March 2022- Greetings to all coin & token collectors, where-ever you

might be.  (Note: this coin/token is NOT FOR SALE).   This neat number

585 of the Central & Eastern Europa accumulation is another 'Neustadt'

issue.  Some folks might remember Heron's post Nr 572 that was about

Neustadt an der Haardt.   Perhaps these 'Neustadts' could become a

new 'segment' within the accumulation?  Always something to have

fun with in this great coin and token collecting hobby.

The coin/token: 18mm dia - Round - Zinc - Grades VF (Very Fine).

Obverse: City (Stadt) Coat of Arms at center.

                     Legend:  STADTNEUSTADT A/AISCH.

Translation: City of Neustadt on the Aisch (River).

Reverse: Large 5 at center.

                    Legend: KRIEGSGELD at 12 oclock.

                    Legend: 1917 at 6 oclock.

                    Kriegsgeld= War Money.

Mint: Konrad Balmberger Pragueanstalt Nurnberg.

Mintage: 30,000.

Issuing Authority: Kingdom of Bavaria.

Numista Rarity Index = 87

Note: Index rating of 87 is relatively high for a 5 Pfennig

denomination, however, it is a low mintage issue.

River Aisch in Northern Bavaria is 52 miles in length.  Begins in Franconia

and flows through Badwindsheim, Neustadt an der Aisch, & Hochstadt

then merges into the River Regnitz at Altendorf.

741 AD - first mentioned in document.

C. 1190 - became part of the lands owned by the Burgraves of the

                  Dynasty Hohenzollern.

1553 - During Second Margrave War Neustadt burned almost totally.

1791 - Became part of Prussia.

1810 - Given to Kingdom of Bavaria.

** Another neat addition to the Alt Heron's small accumulation.  It is

a Wartime issue, has a Coat of Arms depicted, relatively low mintage.

It is a 'river-town' and still exists.   Heron continues searching and

is a lucky bird at times.  This is a fun hobby for a lifetime. **

Note: This coin-token is NOT for sale, nor is it being offered for sale

in this acquisition report for fellow coin & token collectors.
