26 May 2020: Greetings to all coin collectors, where-ever you might be. Heron is pleased to report acquisition of Europa C&O #459. A nice small Silver coin. A Denar
of Hungary and Lajos II Jagiello.
Obverse: Fourfold Coat of Arms, 2 Hungarian, 1 Dalmatia, 1 Bohemian and at Center
is the Polish Jagiellon Eagle.
Reverse: Crowned Madonna seated with child in right arm. No legend.
Large Mint Mark.... L Madonna B. (As viewing the coin).
Note: This coin is 15mm dia and Silver.
Note: The L - B is the Mint Mark of the Buda Mint.
Note: City of Budapest was created 12 November 1873.
Note: King Louis II Jagiello was killed in battle of Mohacs 1526.
1000 - The Christian Kingdom of Hungary was created.
1247 - Buda fort & palace built by King Bela IV.
1526 - Hungary was partitioned after Battle of Mohacs.
1526 - The Happy Hapsburgers grab a piece of western Hungary whilst
about 70% of Hungary is grabbed by Turks.
Note: This coin is not 'dated'. Per Numista this design was issued 1521-1526.

** Another small but neat Silver coin added to the slowly growing accumulation
of Europa Central & Oest coin issues. This coin was not on Heron's want list.
Heron was not aware that there WAS a mint in the city of Buda. More knowledge
means better 'collecting'.. This is truly a great hobby, especially when ordered
to shelter by Gov Gav of California. Always coins to research. Different Mint Marks
