Duchy of Lucca on Serchio River. 1 Soldo. 1826. #642.

27 Dec 2022- Greetings to all coin & token collectors, where-ever you might be.  (Note: This coin is NOT for sale, nor will it be offered for sale. This post is to advise other coin collectors of a neat addition to Heron's own small accumulation.  This IS the coin & paper money chatting board and we sometimes chat about items we own that are NOT for sale).

Another neat Copper coin addition:

The coin: 21mm dia. Round. Copper. KM A34. Fine+.

 

Obverse: Crowned flour-di-lis.

Legend: CARLO. L.D.B.I.O.S. DUCA DI LUCCA. 

Reverse: In laurel wreath: 1/SOLDO/1826. 

Mint: unknown.

Mintage per Numista= 1,030,000.

Numista Rarity Index=79.

c.200 BC - settlement named LUK.

180 BC became a town & a Roman colony.

576-797 owned by the Lombards.

1160- became independent town with 'town charter'.

1801- France granted area democratic constitution.

1805- Napoleon I created area as a Monarchy and installed his sister Elisa as Princess of Lucca.

1815 to 1847 Lucca was a Bourbon-Parma Duchy.
