What is this frame attached to a Manfrutto Pantograph 2c with spring?

Can anyone help me identify this frame that is attached to this pantograph? It measures 16” square and has a small box on the side that connects into a phone type jack. The box has written on the top “photogenic professional lighting PLDIR-2   .08” 

I have 4 of these plus mounting brackets for ceiling and wall and a couple of electric boxes.

Any guidance would be appreciated!
