Dispute with Google support over warranty on a Pixel cell phone purchased on Ebay?

Purchased a Pixel cell phone on Ebay brand new. Came with warranty paperwork. Seller says they were told by their supplier that it comes with a 1 Year warranty. Google will not honor it stating, "As you have purchased it from a third-party retailer, please reach out to them who can help and assist you with the available options on the device."  The seller's response is as follows: "As with most electronic products, a warranty is issued for the product but must be activated by the user upon first use of the product. Warranty info will not be in our possession, but the user will have full warranty information once the customer registers the item with Google directly."

Google just refuses to honor it. I've played the intermediary between them and seller for the past week +.

Anyone else having these issues? If so, what was done to resolve it?

The vast majority of companies' warranties are only valid if you purchase the item from an authorized dealer. That means the vast majority of warranties on items sold on eBay aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

If the listing mentioned a warranty and you received the phone less than 30 days ago you should start a 'not as described' return. You have 180 days to open a case with Paypal, if that's how you paid, and about the same amount of time to dispute with your credit card. But don't plan on Google ever honoring the warranty.
