Mystery Object

Ran across an unusual item the other day. Approx 8" long. It pivots in the middle and when you turn one shaft, the gears activate and turn the other shaft. Turns in both positions, either straight or bent. Hollow on both ends. No name, no markings.

Looks like something that de-hulls seeds maybe - pour whole seeds into the hollow end, rotate the gears and they break out the meat down the other open tube and the shells fall out the sides. It is pretty too. Test it out with sunflower seeds.
