unauthorized return

Received a return today - just showed up -

Buyer did not email me or start a return in eBay - he  just sent note  inside the package to exchange it for a different size.

I normally do not do exchanges, I tell them to start a return in ebay - send it back and reorder the size they need.

When I receive it I process it as a return do a credit and relist that size -

Under ebay rules/quidelines ARE BUYERS SUPPOSE TO START A RETURN IN EBAY - get authorization and then do the return -

They do not have to open a return request, but they are supposed to communicate with the seller prior to returning.  You have the shirt, cancel the transaction per Buyer's Request which will refund the buyer automatically.  You tehn get a final value fee credit.  Then advise the buyer if he wants another shirt and you have it listed, he can buy it.  If you manually refund the buyer from the paypal transaction, you can deduct the original shipping charge, but you will not be credited the FVF.
