Seller canceling sale on buyers request after unpaid item assist is activated

I attempted to cancel a sale for buyer because they stated they couldnt pay or cancel on there own because bank screwed up,computers slow,dog ate the homework..........Ebay will not allow me to cancel because unpaid item assist is activated. I don't like calling Ebay because I have a hard time understanding the the reps voices and I cannot contact through email for some reason. Any other suggestions besides letting UIA continue? Thank you! Jen
