People Keep Asking to Pay for eBay Listing through PayPal Invoice

I know there are a lot of threads about this topic, but I wanted to see if anyone could provide concrete facts about people trying to get you to sell an item strictly through PayPal. Obviously going through PayPal would eliminate the hefty eBay fee, but that's why you use eBay right? To bring the buyer and seller together. Anyways, I don't want to do something that is against eBay policy so can someone provide a link or other kind of evidence regarding this topic?

Also, I have seen contradicting links about PayPal's seller protection, which makes me weary about even doing that if eBay was okay with it. Common sense is telling me that eBay will frown upon taking the business straight to PayPal, but I want to be sure.
