Package delivery issue, not received, but eBay is incorrectly showing "DELIVERED" status. Help?

I was expecting a package to arrive today. I got a notice from eBay, gleefully stating "Your package has been delivered!" No, it has not. USPS says so. It is flagged with "ALERT" & was sent to a different USPS district. It claims there is an address fault. I have immediately opened up a case with USPS in hopes of getting the flaw corrected. Meanwhile, the seller presumes a successful delivery & transaction is done.
Is there any recourse when eBay makes a mistake like this?
