Good 'til cancelled?

What is going on with Good 'til Cancelled being the default listing duration on BIN's? I have never used this option, but a couple of times I didn't notice it was already "chosen" for me, and it has shown up as the duration listing.

Doesn't ebay make enough money by selling ads on my current and ended listings, charging me a "fee", though I am not sure what they provide for that "fee", which is why I am putting it in quotes, selling my searches to other companies, etc?
Guess not.

Guess they do not also realize that there are many other venues for selling on the Internet.
