False ebay Free Store Upgrade Promo - Not Free

Notice: False Ebay Free Store Upgrade Promo

 Hello Sellers,

On my ebay Seller Hub "Overview" page, at the top left corner was a "Free Store Upgrade" offer to "Try 1 month of bigger benefits."

When I clicked on Learn More I was taken to a page that informed me that:

"Invited sellers ("Sellers") who activate the offer and then upgrade their eBay Store Subscription, pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth herein, will be upgraded to the next level tier* (Basic to Premium or Premium to Anchor), but pay the same rate as the original tier for the first month from the start date of the upgrade (collectively referred to as "Promotion"). See the Subscription Fee Table below for estimated discount amounts."

This is the page that I clicked on to accept the offer: https://pages.ebay.com/promo/2018/0124/storeupgrade.html?_trkparms=clkid%3D1409510944541882857

But, after I initiated the offer, I was given another link to subscribe to the next tier:

Special Promotion: Upgrade your store to the next level!

Upgrade to the next level and pay a discounted rate for 1 month!Learn More

Thinking "Free" is discounted rate, I happily moved on to accept the offer by clicking on "Subscribe Now," only to be surprised by a $30 fee for the promo period. My  basic store subscription is $19.95/month, so accepting the promo does not actually upgrade to the next level tier for free, where one pays the same rate as the original tier for the first month.

But, since I had already accepted the offer, I would still be charged for the upgrade, even if I didn't upgrade, and pay a early termination fee if I opted out --Oy!-- so I submitted the upgrade, will pay the extra $10, and cancel before the promo ends and charges me $60 for a premium store.

Just wanted to put that out there for the record, and to let you all know. It seems like a bait, hook, and then switch.

salut et paix,

Jeannette
