No, it's a violation for them to try and charge you more than the listing states.
Pay for the item and the $ 2.53 shipping and not a dime more.

When I go to pay for the item it is automatically charging the $6.51. I'm very unhappy with this purchase. Could I cancel the transaction?

You can't cancel it. Only the seller can initiate the mutual cancellation.
I would try emailing the seller again.
I wouldn't pay the extra.

It has only been a day.
This looks like a novice seller such as yourself, but nothing would indicate they are trying to pull a fast one on you.
It's more than likely some glitch or mistake.Be patient and it will work out.Try to call them?
After all, this is not world peace hinging on this enormous transaction.LOL.
If you give up your option to handle it on your own as poster #5 suggests, the situation will probably be escalated to something that is actually bad.

I too would report them to Ebay if they don't respond to you today as those four animals will fit into a small box and can be shipped 1st class. She may have to pay a few cents more than the $2.53 she charged in postage - but that is her mistake that she forgot about the rise in postal rates. I've had to eat postage costs more than once - but that isn't the buyer's fault.

I still haven't received a response back from the seller. I just sent another email asking why I was being charged more than what was posted. I told her that from what I understand you are not suppose to do that. I asked the seller to cancel the transaction if the shipping isn't going to be $2.53. I will report it if we can't work it out. It may have been a mistake. Although, I don't think that is the case.

I don't think you'll hear from her. She will either send you a new invoice with the proper mount due or you'll never hear from her - she'll take the loss of her final value fees and then relist it.
Ebay has opened themselves up to alot of this with their advertising about how easy it is to sell on Ebay. These new sellers have no idea about policies or what they are going to run up against. As bad as I feel for the sellers, it will also alienate buyers - I know as I'm going thru a similar situation with a new seller.
If you don't receive a new invoice in a couple of days - use the report a buyer link on the item page and report her for trying to get more money for postage from you.

That doesn't matter in this instance.
Listing stated $2.53 shipping and the seller has to honor what is posted in his listing.

The finally got a response from the seller. She wouldn't accept the orginal shipping of $2.53 and I wouldn't pay the $6.51. We agreed to cancel the transaction. Thank you everyone for all your input, it was very helpful.

The 2.53 quoted for the Fisher Price zoo toys is for Media Mail and toys cannot go MM. That looks to be just a listing error. I am sure you did not think he would send your toys out Media mail.
Mutual cancellation seems right.

I can't believe she relisted it charging $2.53 shipping. That is so rude. I'm trying to report it and I'm having difficulty. Can anyone help me? I clicked on customer support, clicked on report an item or person, went through the steps and sent email. Recieved a response instructing me to call Ebay. Followed the directions but can't locate the phone number. Feeling frustrated. How do you find the phone number to call Ebay?
