I know NOTHING about this chair, other than it came from a friend who would now be approximately 100 years old, and it was from somewhere back in her family. Can anyone tell me more about it? I know it's been reupholstered at least once. The lining on the bottom covers where any sort of makers mark is likely to be. All of the other corner chairs I have seen have symmetrical arms, which makes me wonder if the structure is original. Any approximate guess on value? I don't want to put it on the street and then see it on Antiques Roadshow! Thanks in advance!

This dates to around 1900. It's transitional from Victorian Eastlake style into the beginnings of Art Nouveau. I think you're absolutely correct that it's not a chair. I strongly suspect it's half of a two-piece settee. Please do not put it on the street!! While it only has modest value, it's a beautiful piece that someone will treasure.
