Help IDing gold jewelry piece

jewelrychain.jpgWhat is this item I have? It's gold, about 8" long altogther. The 3 canoe-shaped things have pin backs, and are about 3/4"x1/8". They have a bit of engraving (leaf shapes?) on the front. The chain is quite fine, about 3" each length. It belonged to one of three people, so don't know for sure if male or female owned it, but they all lived circa 1890-1950.

It is a lingerie pin. Think of the clothing back in the Victorian days, it was used to hold straps up and secure the layers of under garments from slipping around.

An umbrella and a mind have a lot in common, they both function better when open.

Many thanks! Mom says liingerie was the LAST thing she would have thought about!

Found a Pinterest site showing a pin in place on an old bustle...so I can see that the chained-together group would help keep a complex arrangement in order
