Just thought I'd warn anyone in the market for an analog, liquid-filled magnetic needle compass of the type used by hikers, mountaineers and others for land navigation. Buyer beware, as these compasses age, they typically get with bubbles in the compass capsule. Some sellers then put these on ebay without mentioning the bubble issue. These compasses are damaged as the interior capsule seal has been damaged and they cannot be repaired or used for their intended purpose. Anyone who buys one of these damaged compasses for wilderness navigation may end up getting lost as the bubble increases in size with changes in temperature or elevation and affects the swing of the magnetic needle.
