how to refund without having the buyer return?

  hi, i received this tightly packed tiny package, shook it down and cut across the top. It was packed in so tightly that the scissors cut two slivers of cloth from the front of the shirt. thanks.

Inexpensive item, I just want to refund without return how do I do that?

Have buyer open a 'return' on ebay as damaged; then you can either 'refund' or 'wait for the item to be shipped back' (the refund will prompt you once opened).

Since the item is damaged and I don't care to have it returned, won't ebay not like that they're not returning it?

You can issue a refund through Paypal.

BUT as you sure it really is damaged and not just a ploy to get it for free.? I would ask for pictures .
