We all agree the rates on standard shipping for the value are great for the categories that let us use them.
Here are some things you should know about this service that can cause customer service issues.
I have talked directly to my local postmaster in Hailey, Idaho and have some good information.
1. Most post offices and carriers do not have a way of scanning these envelopes so they track intermittently at centralized processing centers within the post office. This causes a few issues:
a)Package may appear as late or not tracking until it reaches one of the centers that can process this type of standard shipping barcode.
b)Packages may never show as delivered as postal carriers do not have a way of scanning this type of package to show it deliver (or received)
2. These do show on informed mail if the receiver or the Sender subscribe to this service on USPS.
3. Our business has received many customer concerns about these not arriving, or being stuck at a processing center. Most likely envelopes are not stuck, but just the last place/processing center a machine that could read these barcodes has seen this envelope.
4. This service is lower priority than Ground Advantage and priority of course, so at high volume times, these may be delayed.
