Yes... and here is how the scam works.
New seller, ( Scam Bait we will call him for lack of a better name )
He listed an item, oh... like an iphone... let the feeding frenzy begin.
He sees his item has sold, but did not see that it was not paid for.
He gets a very professional fake message, that says ship and you will get paid, or some such.
But he does not check his PP, to see if in fact he got paid.
The scammer has marked the item as "payment sent"
a hold over from the days when you could send a check, money order or cash.
( an issue ebay should have corrected years ago, just a line of code to remove )
So yes, your friend is out his item... and also the ebay fees from the "sale"
Point him here to the boards next time, before he does anything.
