So, this isnt me, but a relative who is selling on Ebay.
A Buyer buys an item for 300$ on Friday evening. Item is not shipped until Monday Afternoon with tracking. Everything is going smoothly nothing to report.
Then a while after updating the tracking number, my relative gets a voicemail from the "Mom" of the kid who "accidentally" bought the item, imploring my relative to give her a call back.
Not only that, the Ebay account that the buyer used is now no longer registered so messaging them is no longer an option through Ebay.
What do?

What can eBay do? They can unship the item.

If the account is NARU they may be able to reimburse, especially if Paypal told him it was "OK to ship".

Was the shipping label created on ebay? If yes, ask ebay to notify USPS to intercept and return package to sender. Do not deliver !

Ask the carrier for the cost to intercept the package and return to sender.

The money is there. Paypal has a hold on it right now.

The money is being held by Paypal at the moment. The item has shipped. Can they file a refund dispute through paypal for an order that went through ebay?

Let us know the guidance received from ebay in this matter.

As others have said, I would try to intercept the package through the carrier. I've had this done through FedEx, not sure what the cost is with other carriers but it might be worth it to have it returned to you.

Ebay doesn't do that
The seller needs to go to USPS and recall it
USPS would require seller to present authorization from ebay, it's ebay's account.

No they wouldn’t. This is USPS we are talking about here. The SENDER can have the package intercepted, whether the label was bought through eBay PayPal stamps.com or anywhere else. The seller paid USPS for the label.
