A buyer is trying to pay for one of my items via paypal and it isn't going through.  Any ideas?

They could try adding their credit and debit card to their eBay account and try paying from there. Buyers don't have to pay via Pay-Pal, I don't.

There is a common buyer scam where the buyer claims their payment will not go through and they then want the seller to accept a direct PayPal payment. The scam is a fake PayPal "you've been paid" email.  So be careful. As recommended by @redmodelt, suggest they try a credit card instead.

If this looks like a scammer, be sure to report the buyer to eBay.

Don't let it drag out. If they don't pay in 4 days /96 hours, on day 5 cancel for non-payment then add to your block list.

Help everyone down the road. 2 non payments in 12 months period will keep them from buying from many if not most sellers.
