Contacting Ebay

I have found it impossible to talk to an actual human regarding a problem I have that doesn't fit neatly into Ebay's help categories. Does anyone know how to contact an actual person?

There are actual humans on this board who can maybe answer any questions.

No, but the "actual person" you'd talk to wouldn't be the best to advise. Lots of knowledge and experience here...

Tell the robot you need customer service to call you. The pandemic is over but eBay wants to make money without employees (silly thinking) using AI nonsense, not realizing that it's humans (buyers) who pay them, not robots...

Generally, members who answer questions on these forums will usually have more experience and better answers than eBay's customer service, so most questions can be answered here. However, if you are concerned about privacy, or have an account question, you can reach out to customer service.

  1. On the eBay Help page, type a few words about the problem.
  2. Find a topic that is somewhat related to your issue (so that you reach the correct team).
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of that page.
  4. You my see the "Have us call you" option.
  5. If not, click the automated chat option.
  6. When automated chat opens, either type "Agent" into the chat box or scroll down within the chat and look for "Contact an Agent".
  7. If you don't see it, then click "See More" until you do see the "Contact an Agent" option.
  8. Select the human chat option if you would like to retain a transcript.
  9. Or choose the "Have us call you" option if a conversation works better for you. If your phone has a call blocking feature, be sure to turn it off to receive a callback.

Contact FedEx with your tracking number and ask if tracking shows your name and address. If it has your address, ask FedEx where it was left.  Sometimes a substitute driver will drop off items at the wrong house.

If tracking is for some other name, then ask for a letter from FedEx that includes the tracking number and that states the package was not destined for your address. With that letter, you can open a not received case on eBay.

To return an item to a seller, you must first check the listing to make sure the seller accepts returns. If they do, you can open a return request from within your purchase history.  If the seller doesn't accept returns, you can still message the seller to see if they will accommodate your request.  If the item has been used or installed, the seller may reduce the amount of the refund.

If the seller does not accept returns, but there is something wrong with the item you received (broken, damaged, doesn't match the listing), then you can open a return by specifying the reason "doesn't match description or photos", and the seller must send a return label for your item under eBay's Money Back Guarantee program. However, if this method is abused by a buyer, eBay may sanction the buyer by limiting or terminating buying ability, or may ban the buyer from eBay.
