Buyer claims empty jar of face cream sent

I recently sold a jar of face cream.

It was sent first class and didn’t fly (being shipped to an address about 1 hour away from us) so there’s no chance of air pressure/temp being an issue.

The buyer said the item was taped close (we never taped it close), but the jar was without a lid and the jar was empty…

The item wasn’t boxed (except for the shippping box) and the jar was full when we sent it!

What recourse do I have?

I’ve asked for photos but there’s nothing to prevent them from just opening the jar and emptying it and taking a photo.

Thanks for any help!

If they file with ebay, you have no recourse. You can report them but your choices are to send a ship label to get the item back or just refund.

what I do is add a small amount to every package, sometimes in the item cost and sometimes I will bump a first class into the next weight level as a loss fee.

Over the years my refund pool is quite large. So if I get scammed or a package gets lost, I am covered.

whatever you do, make sure you block the buyer from buying from you again.
