What's going on with app Message icon and notification

I'm not getting notifications for sales or messages. My message count icon keeps displaying old read messages as new in-app. I've already checked for updates and removed app and reinstalled after restarting phone. This is annoying to say the least and is getting in the way of business. Is anyone else having issues? Any solutions?

I thought I was having the same issue with the app on my iPad, then I looked in settings in my app and found notifications were turned off. 
I only have the app for the register sound. I primarily work from my PC or laptop.

Oh yes, I checked that too. It's set to  “turned on” but nothing. Thanks for your input 😊

Seems to be an iPad app issue…I’ve had a red notification badge indicating, wrongly, six unread messages for days now. Can’t get rid of it…
