Most of info I'm finding is for reenactment/reproduction canteens. I'm not finding much else....don't know how many Mexican War collectors are out there? If you're thinking of selling it, start an auction with a respectful starting bid and see if there's any demand for it. Comparing it to Civil War Canteens will not tell you the value as there are many Civil War Collectors and the demand would be much greater for a similar item.
