WWII Army Case/Pouch American or German

Hi,

I got this at an estate auction in a lot with several envelope hats and a holster.  There were a lot of Nazi items in the auction and the estate owner had served in the Battle of the Bulge.  Most of the war items in the auction were too expensive for me but I did win this one lot.  This case would appear to be for documents because I don't believe you could fit anything in the opening except for paper. I couldn't find any writing on the inside or outside of it so I can't tell if it's German or American.  Any ideas?

From the photo I would say German map case.  Can you show a photo of the inside?  Are there any markings or stamps?

I can't locate any markings or stamps.  I can post another photo when I get back home at the end of the week.
