The Phoenix could also be Bird of Paradise with Persian Turquoise Cabs? The Clasp looks like a version of a Trombone. If you have Jeweler who deals in Estate Jewelery in your area it might be a good idea to have them have a look.

Okay, I found your Brooch. Definitely not Native American. More like Middle Eastern or European. 

If you Google Phoenix or Bird of Paradise 750 Persian Turquoise Brooch there are similar examples.
