Bowl is 6" w/8" plate/saucer. Both are incredibly smooth to the touch and the paint has texture. They almost feel as though they were hand painted after glazed. They're a taupe color though the bottom of the plate and the center bottom of the bowl are white. Both have gold trim. There appears to be a small signature (possibly in Arabic) of some sort on the plate in silver - plate has "168" indentation on bottom. First picture is the signature, second is texture, rest are close ups. Any ideas?
This looks like dishes painted by young women around the turn of the century attending finishing schools and were signed by the lady who created the art. The plates were blanks imported either from France or Bavaria. I hope this adds to your understanding of why there is no manufacturer backmark on the back of the items.
