need help identifying amber beads

These beads measure 22 inches long, weigh 56 grams. I sold 2 sets of amber beads but am not sure if these are amber. they were packed away in the same box as the others that belonged to an older lady in my family.beadsnewc 002.JPGbeads2old 001.JPG

need help identifying amber beads

In surfing for oriental auctions, I found Bay Antiques Auction coming up on October 26, offering a bangle of agate, lot #4230 (check it out on liveauctioneers.com).Your pix looks very similar. Chinese red agate can be intensly red, yellow orange, to nearly white, from opaque to translucent. Could this be what you have?

Good luck, am interested what it turns out to be.

Do the beads feel unusually light when you heft them? Are they cool or warm to the touch? Amber is incredibly lightweight so if these are agate they will have quite a heft to them. Also, stones like agate will generally feel cool to the touch whereas amber has a warmer feel. If they still fit the bill for amber, keep in mind they could be reconstituted amber which has a completely different value.
