Is there any reason why this should be a known public figure? It has clearly been cut out of an old photo; couldn't it simply be someone's brother, or father, or maybe a friend lost in action, etc., etc.?

I agree it isn't Lindbergh, despite some facial similarities (the hair looks wrong, for a start).

I have to agree with others that it doesn't look like Charles Lindbergh and with Argon that there's no reason to think it's anyone famous.  The fact that it's crudely cut to fit adds weight to Argon's idea.  (Look at the cut between about 3 o'clock and 5 o'clock).
