CAn I get a partial refund?

I’ve bought a chainsaw from a seller who listed it as seller refurbished, it’s looked clean on the photos but when it arrived it stinks of kerosene where he’s just jetwashed it and thus blown all the gunk now wet with water and kerosene into all the inner body of the saw meaning I’m going to have to strip and clean it all before I can run it ,also one of the cooling fins on the flywheel has been snapped off and the clutch drum is worn . I’m not happy with the condition and I’ve asked for a partial refundvia email thru site before making an official complaint  Am I on the right track or is all lost ?
