what if shipping calculated to a buyer is wrong

when i did my auctione the shippilng was to be determined by zipcode plus $0.50 for handiling it should have been $3.04 to the buyers zipcode but it charged hime $1.70 i want to know how this could be so wrong and how or can i fix it sincce the auction ended or do i just have to eat the almost $1 which is not much but i am only making $5 on the item as is

Since we don't know exactly how you set up you shipping, no one here can tell you why it was wrong. It's possible you made an error on the package dimensions or weight. But you are not allowed to charge more than was stated in the listing. So yes, you have to eat the additional shipping.
