Why don’t sellers respond?

Why don’t sellers come back with an offer? I bid 3 times on an item. The 3rd time, it was 70% of asking price. Seller declined offer - no counteroffer. 

What’s going on?

-Sellers do not have to communicate and eBay does not force them too.  Normally good Sellers will

-If you were going back and forth on the Best Office system the Seller may have tendered his Best Offer and will sell it to you for that amount

-I never use Best Offer but sometimes customers message offers and depending on the circumstances I use the Reply with Offer button in the message ... the price I send is THE price I will accept and counter offers are not accepted.

Many sellers don't want to play the haggling game, and had no input in eBay putting Best Offer on the listing.  In any event sellers are not required to make a counteroffer or respond in any way to offers made.
