Unresponsive seller, but looks bad for me

I bought a "Buy it now" camera three weeks ago.  The estimated delivery said "3-6 business days," and the ad said "will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment."  I sent payment through PayPal within 3 minutes.  Zero communication from the seller.  I've contacted the seller three times asking for the status of the shipment and received no response.  Paypal shows the payment as "unclaimed."  I went through conact the seller and asked to cancel the transaction.  Still no response.  So I'll cancel my payment on Paypal and move on, I guess. The only problem is, the item shows as "unpaid" on ebay.  When I try to go through the ebay customer service I answer questions on three screens then get to one that says "oh, you haven't paid for this item yet - go contact the seller."  Aside from ebay customer service being infuriatinly useleless, is that going to reflect poorly on my record, and if so how do I get it changed?  Thanks for any suggestions.
