Selling and shipping an item valued at greater than $1000

What do I need to know about selling and shipping high value items, i.e. a $1000+ antique pocket watch?

If the item is priced at $750 or more, make sure you pay for Signature Required, and use enough packing material to make sure the package is secure.  Extra insurance is probably a good idea as well.

Thank you for your response! Is signature required and extra insurance something you can get through Ebay when you purchase your shipping label through them or can this only be done at the post office when you take your Ebay labeled package to them?
