Removal of an auction.

I had an auction removed because e-bay indicated that it is a prescription item. Not true. It is an over-the- counter item. Before I listed the item, I checked to see if there were other sellers listing this item and previous sales. There was. Literally dozens of sales and listings. I am confused. Do some sellers get special privileges and immunities? How do I really know if I can sell an item or not, without a reprimand and an email that I will be kicked off of e-bay if I already check to see if others are selling the exact same Item (which they are)?

Removal of an auction.

Just as you don't look to see what speed other drivers are driving to determine what the speed limit is, you don't look at other listings to determine what is allowed and what isn't.

You didn't mention what the item was, but it's not just prescription items that are not allowed. For example, CPAP accessories are not allowed. Here's the policy for medical devices:

Here's the prescription and over-the-counter drug policy:

More info on prohibited items:

If you find listings for items that are not allowed to be sold on eBay, you can bring them to eBay's attention by using the Report link on the listing.
