Sellers are not required to respond to messages, though many do as a matter of good customer service.
"Same day shipping" does not mean you will receive the order in a day, it means the seller will mail it the same day if payment is received by a certain time of day.
If the item does not arrive by the last estimated delivery date shown in your Purchase History, the next day you can file an "item not received" case. The seller will have three business days to provide tracking that shows delivery or refund you; if the seller does not cooperate, you can ask eBay to step in at the earliest opportunity.
