Don't sell anything when on vacation or you will lose Top Seller status

I have always left my store in operation when I go in vacation with the message that if someone purchases an item while I am gone, the delivery will be delayed.  I've done this for years and as soon as I came back, I would send the item to the Buyer.  

I have had some health problems and had many out of town pre-op tests and finally traveled out of state for surgery.  I just received an email from ebay informing me that my Top Seller status is in jeopardy and Im in  grace period.

After calling ebay I'm told that since I an on vacation now and just sold another item and not sent it, I will lose my Top Seller status and in 3 wks I need to do a " vacation appeal". 

The agent told me that I need to "hide" my items when I go on vacation.

WHAT A CROCK!!!

Why do they give you options when you put yiur store on vacation to create messages, etc. For your Buyers, if they are going to penalize you later for it?

I'm fed up with all the changes!!!
