Charge for tax

@celby Sales tax is required by law to be collected and remitted for all items that the buyers state charges sales tax on.  The age of the item doesn't matter.  You would pay sales tax if you purchased an item at a brick and mortar thrift or antique store.

On June 21, 2018, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of the state in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. The decision allows states to tax remote sales. The sales tax is charged by the state the item is delivered to for all internet / remote purchases.

Charge for tax

Hi @celby

It’s the individual states that decide whether to tax and what to tax.

eBay must follow the internet tax laws of the particular state the item is getting shipped to.
