Accepted partial return as a buyer and I now find out item is totally unusable

Ok I accepted a partial return on an item I purchased and it was a 50% return. I did this thinking that at least 50% of the product was usable made sense at the time now after unraveling the whole roll  I now see it is all unusable due to defects throughout  it is a NEW unopened item that I received.
I have contacted the seller  hoping that they will understand and refund the remainder of the purchase.
I am assuming as far as Ebay is concerned the transaction is done? So I really am hoping on the seller at this point.
Note to self: Don't rush to a resolution as a buyer.

Yes, if you opened a return case through eBay and this was the resolution you and the seller agreed to, and the return case was closed, the return is complete as far as eBay is concerned.

Agree. Thankfully the seller was  very understanding and refunded the remainder.
